How hiking is helpful as a form of medicine?

First of all, spending time outdoors makes it possible to inhale fresh air (generally outside the city) and requires depending on your preference a bit or an extensive form of exercise. As long as you are careful during the hike, it should be healthier to get out and explore. Since the end of last year, the NHS Shetland started authorizing Scottish doctors to use it as an additional form of medicine to patients. According to the article of Justin Housman, Scottish doctors have realized that the outdoors is an excellent treatment for chronic health issues as diabetes, depression or even anxiety. In prescribing outdoors activities as a supplement to medicine, the NHS hopes that going outdoors will be prescribed in more health areas to stimulate people to go outside. Of course, it is not a substitute for traditional health care but is seen as a health supplement. Therefore, its aim is to relieve stress that ends up being good for the body and overall health.

Think about it, the rugged Munros with its windswept trails makes it possible to come across different animals like deer or to spot birds. Most of all, it takes you away from the pressure of the city and activities as birdwatching, walking on the beach, go for a walk in the woods or being outside for at least 30 minutes.

It is a perfect medicine to enjoy the outside air, revel in the Scottish nature and just getting outdoors that benefit health effects. It is an easy form of self-care and I hope it will be picked up among more health areas. Let's be honest, if you are healthy or not ... who doesn't like to take a bit of time off to go outside and explore Scotland's beautiful nature?
